Suspected Fulani herdsman who attacked and killed a Catholic Priest, Lazarus Nwankwo and a pregnant woman, has been arrested and named as Umaru Isah from north eastern part of Nigeria. The Police in Enugu did not give details of how he was arrested or if Umaru has made any statement.
The Enugu State Police command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu said, “The suspect, who claimed to be 20 years of age, said he came to Enugu from Gusau in Zamfara State to rear cattle, but has none to rear till now. Investigations are still on with a view to unmasking his gang,”.
Zamfara State, where Umaru comes from is an Islamic State that has instituted sharia law and where Muslim youths killed 8 people, mistaking them for Christian when they attacked a Christian convert on claims of blasphemy.
