Chibok Girls’ Release: Swiss Government admits role

chibok-girls-on-boko-h-videoThe Swiss government spokesperson from the ministry of foreign affairs, Pierre-Alain Eltschinjer, has confirmed the role of the swiss government in the release of the Chibok girls. “At the request of the Nigerian government, Switzerland facilitated contacts between representatives of the Nigerian government and intermediaries of Boko Haram on the release of the Chibok girls,”  he said.

The Nigerian government still insists that it has not swapped any Boko Haram fighters for the release of the girls.

All the parents of the abducted Chibok girls are anxious to know if their girls are among those released a relative in Abuja told GCN they are waiting to be contacted. The Director of State Services has not released the names of the girls that have gained their freedom.

Boko Haram has not yet made any comments about the release. Boko Haram still holds hundreds of women and girls in addition to the 256 school girls it abducted in April 2014.
